Mil-Career Navy Fighters, 3000+ hours. 500+ arrestments, Safety off qual'd, Special Ops commander, Lots of combat time (no one cares).

Best of luck to all applicants. Keep the press on and press early!

United will take the top Airline slot in the coming decade. Bet on it!

Congratulations! And good luck. I love the enthusiasm.

Keep in mind, single seat fighter guys have a lot to learn in the multi-crew cockpit environment. They seem to have a bit of a tougher time learning the airline.

I appreciate that. I'm planning to work like a dog, buckle down and study up constantly. This has been my goal post Mil for decades. Certainly don't want to look like a clown, shine the petootie or fail. Thanks!

When did you get your CJO? I was 13 Feb and still no class email. Thanks.

Congrats and love the enthusiasm... there’s been a lot made over guys with only single seat time struggling with airline ops, but it really depends on the individual. The last couple I’ve had in training were awesome! They understood that they had a lot to learn and buckled down. Also left their attitude at the door. They were very accomplished in their pre-United career, as it sounds like you are, but realized that as much as we appreciate their experience (that’s why they were hired) they are no longer ace of the base. (That goes for all new hires)... Point being that with the right attitude and work ethic, you’ll succeed at training no matter what your background is.... it’s sounds like you have the right attitude coming in and hope to see you in training soon! Congrats and welcome!

Awesome. I have similar stats/background. Is 1700 your TPIC?

Thanks! Have fun!

Humm...don’t recall seeing arrestments as a category of logable flying events . “No one cares” has 2 categories apparently!:D
Don’t take it personal, we’ll have a great time flying together!
Welcome!

Looking forward to it! Hard work for sure.

I ate about 500 hot pockets in my USAF flying career but sadly that's not something you can put on an application either. It's bogus because you can really burn your mouth with that hot pizza filling, so to come back for more 499 times speaks to my dedication and perseverance.

Did 500 hot pockets also cause 500 bowel movement "arrestments"

For guys who'd had apps in before your dates of availability, about how long before that date did you start hearing any comms from United?

I interviewed in Dec, one of the guys in my group had a March availability. Friend interviews 4/3 with a June availability.

shrekviper 03-22-2019 12:12 PM

Timelines might be all over the map. I got the Hogan 3/1, invite 3/4, interview 3/6, CJO 3/12. I just need 2 weeks notice to start. I'm hoping for classes to be added in May/June, or someone to drop out of the mid-April class. :D

Mine was 30 days out but I had 2 weeks availability. It seems all over the place. I know of someone who got an interview 4 days after passing the Hogan, which is nuts.

Mine was about 3 months prior to availability to hogan invite, interview two weeks after. I also just saw they added May 7 & 14 classes. Here’s to hoping a 3/12 CJO is early enough to get one of those!

I was just short of three months to availability when I got the hogan, two weeks later to interview. I also just saw they added May 7 & 14 classes. Heres to hoping a 3/12 CJO is early enough to get one of those classes!

Great news about the May classes! 2/14 CJO, finger crossed for a May start.

Excitement building...

As a point of reference, the 2-27 CJO's are still waiting for a class date.

Went to September job fair with June 2019 availability. CJO this past December. Hoping they haven't forgotten about me and I get a June class date

GuppyNG 03-27-2019 08:56 AM

3/6 interview with a 3/12 CJO here. Any updates on class dates? Nothing on my end. Any of the February CJOs getting put in the May classes yet?

Notification of class dates happens approximately 29 days before the start of class. So the people in the May classes won’t be notified until some time in April.... I know the waiting is the hardest part but at least things are moving pretty well now. Congrats and welcome!

phoenix 23684 03-27-2019 06:40 PM

I’m a 2/13 CJO and still waiting on a class.

Oskeewowow 04-01-2019 09:19 AM

Today's class drop:

That must be for furlough returns. Not new hires.

Nothing comes close to MREs.....Meals Refusing to Exit.

If Loc-Tite made a sealant for the human intestinal tract, it would come in an MRE for sure.

Yeah right...
The worst thing about today is you can’t believe anything you read.

TransWorld 04-01-2019 07:34 PM

Reminds me. I’m an outside person looking in. Anyone have the current count of pilots still on furlough?

If I recall, your last put up or shut up furloughee is Nov of this year. Correct?

rightside02 04-02-2019 04:43 AM

Did I read that drop right ? New hires getting ORD\IAH 756 ?

Man that’s great for a locals guy living in base , obvi reserve for a couple lifetimes but man good QOL.

bifff15 04-02-2019 05:00 AM

The date of that posting is suspect...

pilot772 04-02-2019 05:59 AM

New hires don’t start until Tuesday’s Re-docs are Monday. Or it could be April fools my 5 year old was pulling jokes on me all day yesterday.

Brahma Fear 04-02-2019 10:42 AM

New hires definitely did not get ORD or IAH 756.

Oskeewowow 04-02-2019 10:59 AM

April fool's! (insert sad trombone rif)

Anyone have the real drop?

Could someone with patience for a newbie on the forums please describe the hiring steps at United and ways to prepare for them? All I know at the moment is that you apply on Airline Apps, there's a Hogan test at some point, but nothing beyond that...
Where can I efficiently find out more? Thanks!

Facebook, RST United is a good place to start. I never used Tito's product but the Facebook group is a good place for info. I learned most from TPN (The Pilot Network) on Facebook, but its devolved into a private pilot junkyard. Not that I hate GA pilots, but it no longer is a relevant source of information in recent posts. Their iOS app is more worth while with alot of good info but I never got around to diving into it as it was not as seamless as just using Facebook.

Otherwise buy Cockpit2Cockpit. Its a very simple straightforward step by step on how to get ready to apply.
