This inquiring mind wants to know as well...4/17 CJO here.

I'm stoked to get into BI, eventually into an aircraft with an APU, and never have to change a honey pot again...the joys of flying 135 in a turboprop.

Are the classes usually about 30 folks? Anyone know how many UAL hires on an average interview week?

Thanks in advance...and just glad to be here, boss.

April 4/9 CJO here and I've heard nothing either. Wondering if the July 31st class is full?

That class has been full. They just filled the 8/6 class too. I was trying to see if any 4/9s got in or if the latest was 3/27.

Looks like 8/13 will be mostly 4/9 CJOs

Thanks for the information! I guess I’m a little surprised by so many March CJO’s still, thought they had already been given class dates and August would be mostly April CJO’s...

According to a post on the FaceSpace..there is at least one 4/9 CJO who was invited to the 8/6 class.

flynd94 07-10-2019 04:31 PM

I got the call today for the 8/13 class. CPP from Xjet.

Anyone know if interview invites are still going out steadily throughout the summer or is it on hold until it starts to ramp up at the end of summer and early fall?

Just listened to the virtual job fair presentation. They mentioned class dates for September should be announced soon with steady hiring the rest of the year and into next.

FWIW, the latest ALPA System Schedule Committee (SSC) says:
New Hire/ Furloughed Returning Pilots Plan

In addition, to the June and July classes already planned, 3 newly announced additional July and August NH/FR classes are scheduled with 30 pilots per class. Additionally, the company will most likely have additional 2 to 3 classes per month throughout the winter, which will be confirmed approaching each bid period as the manpower need and/or training availability is determined.

As of July 16th, there have been 472 New Hires and 28 Furlough returns for a total of 500 in the 2019 year.

The remaining furloughees are hitting their contractual 10-year limits, and many have already fallen off the list with more furloughees approaching this limit in the coming months.

Furloughees must inform the company of their intent to return 30 days prior to any specific class date that starts before their 10-year end date. 63 have not returned before their 10-year end date expired this year and have fallen off the list.

There are now 41 remaining extended furloughed pilots on the list with various 10-year expiration dates thru November 10th 2019.

drywhitetoast 07-24-2019 09:46 AM

Flight Operations is pleased to announce that a furlough returnee/new-hire class will occur on September 16/17 for approximately 30 pilots.

Here is the current schedule of announced upcoming classes:

* July 30
* August 5/6
* August 12/13
* September 16/17

Does anyone have a good handle on what CJO dates will be offered the September 17th class?

The Aug 12/13 class was mostly 4/10 CJOs, so this class should be the 4/17-ers. But that is entirely speculation.

There were 4/9 CJOs that did not get into the aug 13 class. So most likely it will all be April CJOs.

Good to hear. Approximately how many are hired in a given week? Just curious if all of April will make it into the September class or not.

So what is the appropriate attire for Indoc and Training? Khakis and a collard shirt?

First day and graduation is a suit, the rest khakis and a polo are fine, one day is jeans and tennis shoes. You will get all this from the Indoc website with your class info.

John Lemaster 07-27-2019 04:01 AM

Does anyone have any clue what the drops might look like for the Aug 13th class?

We will find out the Friday before indoc but SFO 737, 320, 75/76 and GUM 737 most likely

Take the plane you want.....you'll be able to bid over to the base you want within the year the way things are going. Just keep in mind that you'll sit reserve longer at the senior bases (ORD, IAH, DEN, etc).

I spoke with Kari in pilot hiring. She said my 4-17 CJO was on the bubble for the Sept 17 class. I would not be confident that all April CJOs will make this class. I am sending them flowers and boxed chocolates and whiskey of the month memberships every day. Kidding!

Does anyone have visibility on whether or not there are currently any delays between BI and initial aircraft training?

Once you start BI your being paid so delays between BI and initial training are win ;) Avg for my class was about 2 weeks but there was a good amount of variability with some only a few days, some 1.5 months or so.

^^^
This.

There is no "gouge" as it will vary by class and equipment. The current plan is to hire as many pilots as can be trained so lots of effort will be spent filling every available sim period.

The specific time off a buddy had last month will have zero bearing on what happens next month. If a certain fleet starts getting backed up beyond reason they will simply throttle back new-hires on that fleet. And on the flip side if sim time opens up (either at TK or remote facility) they will pour students into it.

totaldigger 07-29-2019 04:42 PM

Good info, thanks.

Any intel from OBAP?

Meet and greets? Resume collection? Or just the mass presentation similar to NGPA?

Bogey Train 08-01-2019 12:27 PM

Did she happen to mention when any other classes might be? I'm a 4/17 CJO as well.
Thanks

Thanks

I emailed Kari yesterday and she indicated no classes beyond Sept 17 had been confirmed and pilot hiring is still working the invitation list.

I think its a safe bet that starting October there will be two classes a month until next summer. Maybe only one for one of the months over holiday season.
