Take the plane you want.....you'll be able to bid over to the base you want within the year the way things are going. Just keep in mind that you'll sit reserve longer at the senior bases (ORD, IAH, DEN, etc).

I spoke with Kari in pilot hiring. She said my 4-17 CJO was on the bubble for the Sept 17 class. I would not be confident that all April CJOs will make this class. I am sending them flowers and boxed chocolates and whiskey of the month memberships every day. Kidding!

Avg for my class was about 2 weeks but there was a good amount of variability with some only a few days, some 1.5 months or so.

This.
There is no "gouge" as it will vary by class and equipment. The current plan is to hire as many pilots as can be trained so lots of effort will be spent filling every available sim period.
The specific time off a buddy had last month will have zero bearing on what happens next month. If a certain fleet starts getting backed up beyond reason they will simply throttle back new-hires on that fleet. And on the flip side if sim time opens up (either at TK or remote facility) they will pour students into it.
