I tried deferring but could only defer few months out. Couldn't defer 6 months out. With the hiring going on hard to extend for too long.

Hey guys, I recently interviewed with United via the new Aviate program and received the TBNT email. I am new to the part 121 world with less than 100 hours of jet time and close to finishing my degree. Is it likely that perhaps United might reconsider me for employment in 2-3 years from now? And historically do people usually get picked up in the second try or is it a hit or miss?

2-3 years? Maybe. The timing will depend on your relative qualifications to the pilot supply and hiring numbers. Could be shorter or longer. I don't know of a pubic number for 2nd attempt pass/fail but I've known pilots in both camps. Good luck and keep plugging away. |

I was offered a CJO earlier in December, and was told to expect an end of January or early February class. Has anybody been offered either of those classes yet?
I know it will happen, I am just really excited to start! |

Thanks for the info, I interviewed the first week of December. I don’t know if there were interviews the week of Thanksgiving.
Happy New Year! |
Not sure where else to look, and I did try searching first, but couldn't find anything.
I'm trying to plan my next step (Crazy I know, planning in aviation), and wondering what the class break down at United might look like. How many from the regionals, corporate, LCC, military, or another legacy? TIA |
Hey ForFlightsSake, welcome. 4th year guy here. I'd say United's newhire classes are probably 45/45/10 split between RJ/Military/Corp & Other as I have a bunch of buds still getting hired (AF) so I think I'm in "the loop" but others feel free to correct me. We are doing 120 right out of the gate in January after a 900 hire year in 2019 so I think you'll see that start to shift to about 60/30/10 this year because I think the military pipeline has just about been exhausted based on high volume...our "Aviate" program is a pretty good indicator of this buyer's market beginning to emerge industry wide IMHO. Good Luck! BK
p.s. I have a former USAF 3rd year SWA guy trying to make the jump this year FYI...I think SWA and FedEx will see some defections in 2020 in addition to LCC transitions. |
What's the CJO to class timeline looking like now? Are CJO's still being issued the Wednesday after the interview week? I have heard one person got a CJO and was offered a class date 3 weeks after the CJO? Didn't know if this was typical or an aberration.
