As far as "Thick Stripes" vs "Thin Stripes". aka not looking like a Regional pilot (from what a ALPA REP told me)

...ever heard of TWA, PAN AM, NWA, EAL, Braniff, National....I could go on? All of home had thick stripes!

“Not looking like a regional pilot to who?” The general public? They don’t know and 100% do not care. The gate agents? Surely they know if the flight is operated by mainline or regional.

If this part is true is screams of insecurity and is very sad.

This is the pet project of those involved, both at the company and ALPA, and their feelings are hurt by the overwhelming rejection of what they came up with. They’re going to dig in their heels and salvage all that they can. I’m hoping that the money that the Max fiasco is costing us makes the company put this on the back burner, but it won’t. Who really needs profit sharing anyway?

I really want the purple tie changed as well.
But, now that you can be whatever you want, I haven’t seen anything for a uniform standard for a Mx.
Leather jacket, black sandals with white socks, no tie and no hat. Might not even have to change for the layover! :D

Which brings me to your meals complaint. Ask a DL guy what meals they get. You know that airline that gets those much larger PS checks than we do. The answer you get might surprise you.

Considering we spend our entire working life in that uniform, up to 14 hours per day, I would prefer a quality build and design.
If money is an issue then let’s eliminate crew meals and put that towards our paychecks. The less airplane food (lets call it what it is) you eat, the better. We’ll be spending more than DLs profit sharing in healthcare-related expenses and larger clothes sizes, if we continue to rely on crew meals for proper nutrition.

How about we give up nothing, and get more in the next contract. UPWARDS. The company uniform has nothing to do with my negotiated benefits and compensation.

Probably been at this game longer than any of you so when I read someone advocating "giving up" something to get something else I have to make a comment; STOP THAT!

The process of negotiating a contract for 12,000, let alone 1,200, means no one will be completely happy with it. Everything in the UPA has value, whether it be economic or life style, there is value associated with every string of words defining some subject.

If a person would rather rather have one thing over another, contact your local council reps and make presentation or advocate it to them.

BTW I have to point out when we walk through the terminal in our uniforms we are just part of the air travel decor. The public really doesn't care nor will they notice us unless we somehow stand out.

To me the best uniforms are ones that fit in, easy to wear, the blouse/jacket can be folded, put in our bags and then hung until most of the wrinkles go away.

All true, and the skinny stripes (invisible pilot) seem to be driven from the ALPA side. Every update adresses color and fabric - anything except why the visible part of the pilot rank and authority is being diminished.

Your observation about the wear testers being defensive about the uniform is doubly true.

Perhaps it would be wise to get the ALPA folks reigned in so to speak. Just tell them the membership is not in agreement with their position or plan. Like age 60.....65

Speak for yourself. I'm not rushing to stand in line for equally sh###y (or worse) airport food at 6AM before a 6 hr transcon and then begging the FAs for leftover tapas boxes. And yes that's what your Delta heroes did when I commuted on them. Our meals are fine.

If you want to join the Delta PS envy clan, ask the MEC to let the company outsource 2/3 of our global flying.

Quit eating the cheesecake and they are healthy enough.
