Default Best QOL junior commuter

Thoughts on the following

Junior
Commuter
SE based
2 leg to everywhere but IAH

Goal is maximizing days at home.

EWR?

I'd move. My commute is 1 leg and about as easy as it gets and I'm still counting the days when I'll be living in domicile. 2 leg commute is just not worth the pain especially if attempting to maximize days home. Otherwise if you must stay where you are, I'd look at SFO, you'll hold a line much faster there than EWR.

In addition to the above, ensure that your DAL resume is updated.

A two leg commute to EWR, especially for a junior pilot, does not result in maximum time at home.

Short term pain, long term gain ... i get it.

Maybe a better question: where does 1 year seniority go furthest

LMAO! That’s funny. But also correct, the reality is...not doable. Sorry. Someone will post after this saying, back in the 90s I did it, easy. Not these days. Not the way they’re discounting tickets last minute. Every flt is full, full. Also, what you didn’t say in your first post, is that the first leg of your commute is on an RJ. That’s a @#$&en nightmare. Throw in some fog or WX delays into the big city and they’re the first to cnx. The commuter policy requires back up flts. That means either the 0530 RJ or the last flt out the day prior. Lots of lost time at home. Have you experienced the joys of UA reserve yet? You’ll end up quitting...or getting divorced, because she refuses to move. Sorry but that’s the reality.
Let me guess...NW FL. Good luck!

I’m in the exact same boat. Live in NW FL and we are determined not to move (work and family reasons). There are lots of UAL commuters in our area so I know it’s doable. Very interested in this discussion.

It will suck for at least a decade, perhaps two. If you plan on that, you won't be disappointed.

There is no good junior commute. Even a 1 legger.
