This is going to be interesting how pilots bid.

The interesting part won’t happen till the vacancy bid. How many jr bumps, just to have senior peeps bid 787. Then they are short staffed on the triple and displacements will be cx or delayed for a bit. Considering the -10 is so much nicer than the -200

I didn’t pay attention to the 74 displacements, sorry if this is a dumb question; why do they do it this way? Why displace first then open the vacancy for bidding?

Well to muddy the waters some more...I’d say 95% of the people being displaced can be line holding Captains in domiciles across the system. This is going to be a mess.

I’m normally inclined to be cynical, but the tone of the message conveyed to me that Mr. Carlson was thinking of the personal impacts the displacement might have. That might have factored in to the decision.

Getting positive space and the other displacement benefits for a good period of time for those pilots that might look (at least temporarily) for out of base WB options is a pretty good deal vs running a vacancy then the displacement as the clean-up. If that’s the reason, that’s pretty cool.

I could be wrong.

I don't know for sure, but since this was included in the NPDM discussions, I am guessing that ALPA was in support of this sequence. While it doesn't make sense in some aspects, it does in others, and it certainly results in the most pilots getting the contractual benefits of being "bumped" even if they are going to a new position they were planning on bidding for.

Still going to be a huge mess for the coming months in ORD. I have been begging for movement here, so I guess this is one of those "careful what you wish for" situations!!!!

Should have run a small 10-20 ca/fo vacancy allowing a management pilot to bid in , then allowed a base trade with a junior management pilot. Then ran the displacement. Totally abrogating seniority and getting what they want
