Thanks again for the input everyone. One more question I had was regarding vacation. Right now bidding for vaca next year and I知 pretty senior, so if I were awarded my vacation and then subsequently happened to get a captain award, does my vacation get cancelled or would I keep the same vacation awards for the year and then have to bid bottom of the captain list for vaca the following year?

There is a small chance you could keep the vacation. But recently they have been cancelling the vacations. Then you would be stuck bidding month to month--which the company doesn't award much.

I kept all of my vacation in 2019 in the exact same scenario.

If you are considering widebody flying, take a WB FO upgrade and see if it agrees with you. If not, you can bid to NB CA without a seat lock.

11-F-5 If a Pilot is activated in a Category that is other than the Category in which he was awarded annual or monthly vacation, the Company may cancel vacation that is scheduled to occur after the activation date.

It's a "may" not a "shall" so does anyone know on what basis they'd cancel it? Simple conflict with training?

Training, IOE and consolidation.

They worked with me on my 787 consolidation and finished me up quick. Lots of domestic flying.
