Dear UAL Brothers and Sisters,
Should we turn our backs to our ALPA brothers and sisters? While management is busy buying flight schools, a group of ALPA pilots will be on the streets. These pilots had to deal with a scumbag management while overworked, underpaid and flying the very same passengers we did hours ago. I am sure many here can attest to trying to get home, and TSA pilots making sure that happened despite the cards stacked against them. So, while some of our DEN pilots are going to be asking for the jumpseat to their homes in the mountains, most of those TSA crews will be given a cold shoulder by our hiring teams, or told they are not United material by an interview process most of us weren’t subjected towards, and yet they will happily let us on. So, are we going to say tough luck to a bunch of fine professionals? I’ve voiced my opinion to my rep, let’s see yours.

Classy post. I hate to see anyone out of a job. Hopefully, we can just absorb most of them over at XJT. We are having staffing issues of our own and taking on more 145 airframes.

The track record for airlines or pilot groups taking care of those who end up on the street isn’t that great. We like to talk a good game, but not much ever happens. Go back to Braniff, Eastern, or Pan Am. Lots of talk about making sure that those pilots got ALPA jobs before others were hired, but it turned out to be mostly talk. I’m afraid that things haven’t changed. Unfortunately a bunch of good people are going to have some hard choices. Good luck to all of them.

When WestAir was shut down in the 90’s we all got applications with a “WestAir” stamp on it that essentially guaranteed an interview. Maybe something along those lines would be possible?

This is BULL****.
Very sadden for the Trans States Pilot group. But also angry at not only Hulas and Co.. but at our own management AND our own union.

How about we say, enough is enough. Trans States shuts down but the aircraft go to Express Jet who's aircraft go to SkyWest?! Talk about a shuffle.
Who gets screwed?! The TSA pilots.

That's what management (XJet and United) is expecting to happen. So that XJet doesn't have a problem filling the seats and covering the flying.
Problem is.. if you're a poor TSA pilot with x years of seniority and Quality of Life, guess what. All gone.

We really need to draw a line in the sand. No more outsourcing if the carrier is not an ALPA carrier, or at least unionized.
EVERY one of the TSA pilots should be given an interview at the soonest date possible. Stop all the HR/app searches. Interview 100% of the TSA pilots.
Sure, they probably have their 10% who are questionable (just like EVERY pilot group) but the majority should have no problem passing our interview. Hell, they are flying OUR passengers already?

If they are good enough to carry 50 passengers today from ORD to STL in United Express colors in an E145 then they are good enough to fly 150 passengers on the same route in United colors in a 737/Guppy.

Stay strong, hang tough.
You've endured a lot having to work under Hulas and his minions. Better times will come. May not be tomorrow, may not be next month. But one day, in the future.. I hope to have the pleasure of buying you a bier on an overnight.

Agree with many above , sadly this is the same type of shuffle that Delta did with Pinnacle / Mesaba / Freedom / ASA the list goes on, they control all the flying . This is simply a reminder of the bean crunchers flexing their degrees .

That's simply recycling pilots for a lower rate which is already appalling. They need serious consideration at United.

Why again are the regionals having a hard time finding pilots? Most don't have the ability to spend $70-90k to fund their flying after paying college expenses. If they do have the wherewithal, it's still a crap shoot to spend that amount of money for a "chance" at a major career. If you want someone to risk $70,000, then guarantee the light at end of the tunnel is a lucrative mainline career and not a regional train bearing down on them.
