That isn't what I said. They are going to address our staffing come the fall or sooner with leaves, voluntary COLA's, reduced line averages, or furloughs. They are still forming this "plan" now and a furlough is just a part of it. I am in the furlough range and going into this assuming a furlough isn't a very real possibility is extremely ignorant of our current situation. No one will know the numbers or the possibility of a furlough until it is announced. The union will do its best to mitigate the worst outcome but you are kidding yourself if you don't think it is on the table. I have no idea what you're talking about with regard to "financial programs"? but to pretend like a furlough is some impossibility is naive and foolish. I have a fear that they will cut deeper than necessary despite the long term financial hurt and I truly hope I am wrong. All these quotes from Scott and Oscar about doing everything possible are great to hear but we are deluding ourselves if we refuse to accept the possibility.

You know this how? Asking for the bottom 30%...all the townhall talked about was we will have to shrink payroll to meet the decline in revenue. To think there is not a fulough plan already on the table and waiting for Sept 30th to execute is wildly optimistic.

You're saying the same thing. They may or may not furlough, so at least don't act/post as if it's a done deal. We should all pay VERY close attention to ALPA comms in the coming months. If they indeed want to minimize furloughs, the flexibility they want will almost certainly require membership ratification. Then, and only then, will we have accurate info to discuss. It's good to consider the potentialities, but let's keep it all in context please.
