Yup.

Due to UAL's contractual inability to do a system bid (or flush in this case) this displacement provides UAL many options depending upon expected demand. UAL can easily cancel displacements as required or run additional displacements targeting specific objectives.

All of that makes sense. However our “leadership” is leading through fear. Threatening furloughs and a massive displacement. AAL leadership has come out and said their goal is zero furloughs. They are taking a more positive approach. I get that the sky is falling but our leadership could at least fake an effort to not furlough a third of all UAL employees.

I don’t call downsizing the airline to fit the market demand “threatening furloughs” but that’s just me.

I’m extremely curious about the 5th freedom filing and the updated cargo operations too....

The cargo part of the presentation was quite impressive.

It takes an economical collapse for the leadership to see the benefit of cargo..... glad we have such innovative, trailblazing leadership at the helm.

It’s a little harder to run a belly cargo business with a 95% load factor upstairs. I’m glad they jumped on it now. It’s bringing in much needed revenue and might save some jobs.

They knew the benefit of cargo well before this and we had an impressive cargo operation. It is only now that we face a desperation for any type of revenue and the fact that freight is paying a premium that these freight only flights make sense.

Maybe now that we know how to operate freight only flights, we should convert some of our ‘67’s into freighters. We could then open up a domicile up in ANC!

We used to have a DC10 cargo operation in ANC. I for one would be all over that!
