Sounds like those kids need to take on some of the responsibility themselves then. Look, I get it.. it means the world to a parent to be able to pay for their kid’s education. I didn’t have it and I’m saving aggressively in 529s to alleviate that burden later on for my own; however, if your buddy hasn’t done that and will not be able to pay cash right away there are still plenty of options. Namely parent plus government loans and student loans that can all be mitigated over time. It can even be his kid’s shared burden. The free ride has to end eventually. I mean hell, what about the first officer that’s about to go to $0 income with a normal house, one wife, and kids in college? Everyone has a situation.

I’m going to guess that you’re super junior and worried about getting furloughed.

Ugh, come on guys. This is not a “new” guy vs. senior guy thing so there’s no need to infer divisive assumptions. If this is as large of a turd as the wild rumors and speculation suggest then sure, I ain’t voting for it and I’m absolutely losing my job here; however, there is nothing legit to read or discuss besides reactive emotions to a sensitive subject being driven by rumor-mills that are historically full of ****.

You’ll all get to fight about something real later next week or perhaps agree on something. Have a good weekend. 🍺

I'll say it again - it's none of our business how a pilot spends his or her paycheck. Do you not feel a little embarrassed asserting that the pilots kids need to take responsibility so that pilot can pay another pilots salary? The more I hear this line of reasoning the more it convinces me to vote against any cba change.

No longer have a dawg in the hunt.

Did the company come up with this tiered system and the carve outs?

If they did or not I’m sure they are loving the division. Orgasmic I’m sure.

If the ALPO negotiators came up with this I suggest tying them behind a guppie and dragging them around ORD.

If TI sends this out for a vote ...

My intent to that reply was not to make it my business how someone spends their paycheck nor was it a line of reasoning to accept concessions. I replied and pointed out the irrelevancy of the the entire scenario because everyone has a story. It would be pretty tragic if you couldn’t cover your kid’s Miata payments anymore though.

Any reduction in our mpg is us paying to save furloughs. This would of been nice when I was furloughed in 2004. Once again, this is like a participation trophy a kid gets when he sucks. It may sound harsh and cruel, but that’s the reality.

bad analogy. I’m not saying this to be a jerk, I’m hoping some of you pick up on “the cycle of abuse.” When someone is recognized as better than you, in sports or wherever, it gives you an opportunity to understand your weaknesses and make improvements (if that’s your goal). It is real-time feedback, so unless you’re a savant, it’s imperative for growth.

having a bunch of 40 somethings with families get kicked in the financial balls cause “that’s the way it’s always gone” doesn’t teach them anything. And guess what they’re likely to do when they are asked to help the next generation?

oldmako 09-11-2020 04:16 PM

WE are not kicking them in the balls. UA is. Let's keep focused on what's going on.

Be on the lookout for specific verbiage on federal bailout provisions. I could envision a situation where Congress comes up with a delayed bailout package, but we’ve already agreed to reduced monthly credit, so the airline pockets the cash while we remain at concessionary pay.
