Maybe we can all chip in to pay for a pity party for you. I'll bring the stale chips.

Not asking for your pity, just stating a fact.

Just for reference, how long have you been here and what is your age?

We pilots get burned every time. Concessions have never worked.

Just curious. How are you getting kicked in the nuts? Seems like only those who were not displaced are losing out on this deal.

Was not displaced and going from 73 hours to 53 = kicked in the nuts.

That’s roughly a 60k loss a year kick in the nuts and that’s one expensive kick.

So is going from $150K to zero.

Been there and done that, but now you won’t since I am contributing 60k. They will furlough in 8 months, you can bet on it.

HiPlaneDrifter 09-16-2020 04:25 PM

I’m with ya...though I’m a carve out. Got hired here 20+ yrs ago. Think starting pay was about $48k a year. Furloughed after 3yrs after just beginning to make about $110k. Gonna be a lot of folk takin it in the jimmy though. Best you can do is the best you can.

Many of us got to get kicked in the balls by United, BEFORE we even came here.

And we won't even get to spend 22 years here. And now we get kicked in the balls here.

Agreed, I'll be in that club if this thing passes.

You’re probably the same guy who checks to make sure everyone has their ALPA pin on their tie in show of solidarity with our union. A lot of our brothers and sisters true colors coming out now.

Are you a line holder?
if so, is something stopping you from picking up?

130shadow 09-16-2020 04:37 PM

Picking up? Just crawl out from under a rock?

I guess I am. Please elaborate. What am I missing that prevents you from picking up open time.

We are in a union, but not a socialist union. I contribute my dues to better the profession and am proud to do so. I contribute to the furlough fund to help guys out with health insurance and happy to do so. But I draw the line in taking a reduction in mpg to the tune of $4800 a month to pay other pilots salaries.

The lines are going to be built to a stupidly low level as I understand it. Therefore, the super senior will be the ones picking up the open time. Unless you're in that group, you can likely forget about seeing anything in open time other than occasional crap. And that's IF there is any open time. Depending on BES you may either line your pockets or eat sand. The level of open time in my last seat was abysmal. It matters not what your pay rate is if you can only bring home X hours per month.

And correct me if I am wrong, but there will be guys bumped from the left seat to the right who will get to keep their Captains pay rate. They will likely be super senior in BES. They will be the ones slurpoing up the open time, and at Captains pay. And if the company is offering premium pay, they will be making more than the Captain. Nice work if you can get it. Eat sand if you can't.

I pity anyone that has to fly with you for a LONG time.

Captain Meplanet.

Nobody cares about your pathetic problems, dude. Except you. Don't come on here looking for sympathy or trolling employees who've a lot more to lose than your entitled carcass.

Vote no and shaddup.

Do you realize how fortunate you are you have a union that negotiated a contract that allowed you to sit at home and get paid for doing nothing since April? Do you realize how fortunate you are to have a job in the midst of the biggest pandemic in the history of our country? You've even got your health (For now, fatboy) and your retirement. (For now, after the wheels really come off the economy you probably won't.)

Self-involved bloviating people like you are the reason I upgraded the moment I could. Mere words cannot express how much I detest somebody who doesn't recognize their good fortune, and doesn't understand that complaining about things they have no control over is toxic.

Seriously? How about no open flying preventing it. How long have you been here?

El Guapo 09-16-2020 04:48 PM

I have seen plenty of open time all around the system for a while. Trips dropping in every day. I'm SFO 737. Look out of base if you are strapped for cash. Until June when they furlough that is.

mmm123 09-16-2020 04:49 PM

As I look on the fb united pilots site I have to laugh as people are saying this is so we snap back as a company quicker. Okay Scott Kirby, thats going to happen. lol See you in bankruptcy court before we snap back quicker but keep telling yourselves it'l happen.
In the men time no matter which way this goes the pilot group will be split for years. Enjoy

That’s very generous that you pay your union dues. Also very generous that you have agreed to pay 1% of your salary to support union brothers and sisters who will be on the street during the worst economic crisis in our lives. Who cares that many of whom are responsible for supporting families. Thanks for wearing your ALPA pin though. That helps.

That’s how I read it as well...

Can’t believe they went with the 1/3’s strategy.... Straight out of Union Busting 101....

dingdong 09-16-2020 04:58 PM

OR...

You could be thankful that you will keep your job when thousands of us will be on the street by no fault of our own.

My jean shorts and fresh New Balances WILL NOT be joining you for a drink when we get to the hotel.

On the bright side, if UAL ever goes TU, you can go back to being a latex salesman.

Glad Elaine was able to help you figure that out.

Not sure when you got to UAL or if you have been previously furloughed by this company. I have been furloughed by this company. I don't like this TA for numerous reasons, but here is my number one problem : Tiered Pay Groups (we are either a Union or not). This right here is a NO vote for me.

And I thought POS 02 contract was a POS. This thing wreaks. We must be the laughing stock of ALPA.

is Jeff Brown still on the NC? Geez...........it's like listening to Larry Kellner. I need to get my wallet and throw some more money out.

I'm actually leaning toward a no vote. If they furlough, Delta and Southwest will clean our clock on the recovery. I think we should call their bluff and make them make the difficult decisions and bear the pain.

My beef was with his pathetic, woe-is-me screed. And his wrong-headed mentality that he is somehow being stolen from to give to a different part of the pilot group.

Weak and ignorant.

weren’t you irritated that the early outs weren’t offered for your age group last time? So isn’t this what you asked for just a couple months ago?
