Preferred Method? LOL. I'm not going to touch that one with a loooong pole. My preferred method was to shove it back to the company and tell them "you figure it out". I was actually on a local R&I committee at the time, had zero input to the distribution, but sure caught incoming flak over it.

What caused the disunity? ALPA came up with the method. What ever they came up with, they were to blame. It was a no -win situation. It was like throwing one piece of red meat into a den of four lions.

You cant get unity by dividing.
