From the conversations that will never happen department:

Man 1: Tell me why you bought a ticket on United.

Man 2: Because of their commitment to green innovation and promise of carbon-neutral operations.

Man 1: Other airlines have made similar statements.

Man 2: Yeah, but they weren’t first into the flying taxi market.

Operated by Mesa Airlines no less.

Who is getting the order for all the diesel GPUs required to charge the batteries between flights?

Listen you can mock my statement, it will help their image. Probably will lead to more customers as well.

I’m bullish on the stock ($ACIC), so I think UA made a great investment. They invested $600 million privately with the OPTION for an additional $500 million order of aircrafts.

China has already started its own eVTOL aircraft stock $EH that’s valued at $108. I think they’ll do well on the investment.

Once I turn 65, can I stay on the seniority list but assigned only to the "urban shuttle" group?

If you are a pilot for Mesa, I’d say that’s a real possibility. I think they’ll have to operate these shuttles under 135, not 121, so no age 65 limit.

people use humor and group-ish tendencies to lessen the pain of the crushing uncertainty that surrounds us. Unless you are completely devoid of empathy, You don’t mock something you think is truly pitiable or beneath you. You mock things that threaten you or that you don’t understand.

Given our extreme left-brain nature as pilots (detail oriented, high desire for certainty/black-white outcomes, belief in simple logical chain thinking), most of us wouldn’t make great long term strategists. So have pity on us... I’ve made peace with my shortcomings ;-)

I'm just wondering how they're going to ensure that someone landing in a neighborhood isn't going to land on a car or a person. Air taxis are probably an eventual reality, but I'm curious to see if they could really get this thing approved by the FAA in the next three years. You're talking about a whole new set of regulations and safety rules. Unless they put something like a heliport in the middle of a neighborhood, kind of like a park n ride lot where everyone could drive to it. I guess that'd still be better than driving to the airport. It'll be interesting to see how they pull it off of it ever gets that far.

[QUOTE=LAXtoDEN;3193336]I guess I disagree with everyone, I love the idea and investment by UA. This will be part of Cathie Wood’s new ARK Space ETF ($ARKX), reports in the chat was $ACIC (Spac merger) was bought up this morning by Wood’s after the announcement with UA, which supports the huge buy order that pushed the stock up nearly 25%. I think this will help UA’s image in the end, everything Cathie touches turns to gold atm.

Hope you’re right! We shall see. As I mentioned I still feel like they could have focused on a SPAC that was more of a sure deal and didn’t require tons of government approval and red tape. Lot of ways to invest in green SPAC right now that don’t involve another “possible” VTOL taxi that most likely won’t happen. The PR might be good but so small in terms of attracting pax.
