MEC Communications/LOA
Would it be remotely possible for Insler to write a single MEC communication that does not include some self-serving statement about how great the LOA is?
According to him, the LOA landed a burning 777 and then the LOA called Boeing and placed a 737 Max order - and that's just in the last week. The fact is that furloughs have been blocked by government assistance and likely will be through the June furlough resumption date. The huge advantage that Kirby purported to be gaining over competitors has been largely eliminated as they too have remained overstaffed using government funds. The 777 crew that did such a fantastic job would probably have been even more current without the LOA. Had that event ended differently and any of the crew been marginally current due to the LOA, would Insler have taken credit for that? Finally, Boeing would sign a no money down Max order with a homeless person at the moment (even if said homeless person didn't have an LOA). The real results and/or fallout of the LOA won't be known for years. In the meantime, it would be great if it wasn't referenced in every freaking MEC comm. Merle |
Oh now you've done it! Gooslives (aka Airaware) is going to put you on his shi#list!

Right. Like all the self-serving people that voted No on the LOA like you and Old Mako. At least the Yes voters were correct. Unfortunately many of the stubborn, jaded NO voters will never admit they were wrong but more importantly never admit that this LOA is actually working out. We wouldn't be able to handle any new plane purchases if we weren't manned for it along with potential growth. And the other airlines benefitted from us not furloughing by actually trying to do the same thing. What's ridiculous is when guys like Old Mako that have nothing to do in retirement, waste all of their time on a forum they shouldn't even be allowed to post on anymore. Their jaded inputs are irrelevant when you are no longer with the company. Lastly, it won't take years to know if this LOA is working, because it's working already. No one is on the street, No one. And no one is going on the street in June or this year or any time soon. Oh, that's right - we shouldn't have saved any of these bottom 1/3 jobs because they didn't earn their stripes yet. Your "Me, Myself, and I" team can go jump in the lake!
This LOA was like stepping up to the roulette table and trying to choose whether to put all of your chips on red or black - and then going with green. |
The point is, you can’t judge the LOA on its real world application because it’s only been active for one month of the past five since we’ve signed it. The rest of the time, it’s been federal money- not the LOA- covering our paychecks. None of us can honestly say how we’d be feeling about the LOA today if it had been consistently active since November. And while we can’t fairly call it a loser, I don’t think it can really be called a winner either, as it hasn’t done much so far besides sit on a shelf collecting dust.

We don't know about the LOA in practice. We certainly know that Insler will say it has given birth to unicorns and rainbows at least twice weekly. |

And...........it's been front and center in EVERY Insler email as a raving success. Insler has used the calm created by government money to sell a false or at the very least unproven premise. The degree to which he credits himself with every perceived positive is disgusting to watch.

LOA is working just as designed... saved jobs during an unprecedented period and is protecting pilot pay/bennies/seats... with an auto trigger to spring back to full MPG if govt cheese is provided. The latest NB purchase for accelerated deliveries between 2022-24 is just icing on the 🎂... never would have happened if TA wasn’t signed.
