i think the point is that United Corp email is a non critical comm channel, and if we lose access to it, it won’t affect our ability to do our job one bit. Most of it is rah rah crap and corporate bs that doesn’t apply to us anyway. If they want us migrated over to the new system, fine by me. Just don’t be surprised when thousands of pilots no longer have access when the process breaks down. They know how to find us if they really need us. No need to worry about it.

Just because you are not paranoid doesn’t mean they aren't tracking you ... or recording conversations in flight ops or crew lounge ... or video ... or tracking your commuter flights.

I assume everything I do on company property is monitored with the exception of the lavatory.
However, it would take a lot of resources to actively and continually surveil front line employees, as well as organize and catalog those conversations and interactions. In addition, I think ALPA might have something to say about it. FOQA already covers both authorized and unathorized recording devices on the flight deck. Conversations related to flight ops might actually fall under FOQA anyway. No conversation can be used against an employee that is covered by FOQA. Wouldn't take much to get union to extend FOQA to the entire property from check in to debrief. Just a thought......But, I am gonna get my til foil hat, com jammer, IR and VR video jammer just in case.

Let's just assume all of that is true. So what? It doesn't impact how I do my job.

You do something else dumb, or not dumb but get caught in a bad situation. They will then look at all their data and pile on. Don't give them free ammo to use against you.
It's been demonstrated time and time again.

I just treat CCS as company e-mail, and even that is 90% useless stuff like 787 Fleet Mgr openings every week (seriously how are there that many openings for that position?). Ever since they re-did the website and whatever weird thing they did with the e-mail accounts two years ago, I haven't been able to access my e-mail anywhere other than my iPad. I use my personal e-mail for work.

I’m confused as to how this is a fiasco. They made it harder to access and easier to ignore. If you don’t want to be contacted by the company, don’t use it.
Most of you are adults. Decide for yourselves. Blah blah blah...contract!

fiasco
noun (1)fi·as·co | \ fē-ˈa-(ˌ)skō
also -ˈä-
\
plural fiascoes
Definition of fiasco
(Entry 1 of 2): a complete failure
Obviously for those who do not use UAL email this was and is not an issue, but for people who do use the company email, of which there are many, the directions provided do not work, and they are required to call corporate IT for help. The FO I flew with yesterday said he spent 20 mins on the phone in his hotel room in PHX getting guidance on how to re-instate his email. He also said the representative on the phone told him he had been on the phone with pilots helping resolve this issue pretty much non-stop for a week and he still had hundreds more to go.
In terms of rolling out a new technology, two factor authentication, I'd call that a failure.
