I don't think either Empty Line or the guaranteed 3-month COLAs with benefits at active-pilot rates is in the UPA. Those are in the LOA and will go away when the LOA terminates.

What do I have wrong?
E-COLA, E-SRL and Empty Lines are in a separate LOA. LOA 20-01.

Thank goodness! I’m really enjoying these empty lines after a year + on reserve. Total control over when I chose to look at open time and if I desire to try hard enough to go to work...

MEC don't like 'em. Enjoy while you can.

I hear you. Not on reserve, but with all of the SRLs, I haven’t worked in nearly a year and a half.

Why not? Gives people lots of flexibility… I think it should be a standard offering whenever possible.

Okay, but then make zero-line guys bid for trips in seniority order and if they're reserves make them do it alongside other reserves at 1100.

What do you mean? Zero line guys are inherently not reserves and trip pick ups are processed in seniority order… just like normal.

Exactly. Zero liners are getting the stuff other pilots don’t want, and those lines are awarded by seniority anyway. What’s the problem? Seems like a pretty big win for a lot of people, are senior guys even affected by these AT ALL?

The problem comes from a segment of our pilot group being jealous of what other people have. They are so worried about someone else having a better deal than what they have that they want to do away with any "loophole." Lineholders might have bad trips that conflict with the better trip that drops into open time at the last second. Zero fly lines are gambling with a goose egg paycheck that trips will become available so I don't see how it hurts anything other than their ego that the junior guy might luck into a decent trip and avoids reserve.
