Any truth to the rumor that they’re going to start considering RW PIC? I’m sitting on about 6000 TT with roughly 1/2 being military turbine helicopter and the rest ULCC A320 SIC.

Unrestricted ATP and:
  • A minimum of 1,500 hours of total time
  • A minimum of 1,000 hours of fixed wing turbine time
  • Prefer a minimum of 100 hours of complex flight time within the last 12 months
Are the only requirements advertised. As has been said, the formula is different depending on the individual and the whole person concept applies. Point of reference I recently received a CJO with 5k, 1700 RW, and 1200 121 PIC. Totally my opinion, but I still feel like most are underwhelmed by RW PIC, but do like varied backgrounds and experiences you may bring to the table along with a successful 121 track record.

Thanks for the insight, and congratulations on the CJO.

3700 TT, 700 TPIC, 2 types, LCA/Instructor, numerous volunteer activities, currently flying for a LCC, old regional shut down, 9 internals including 2 CPs. I think around 5 job fairs attended. 4 year degree, graduated with honors. Definitely on the lower end of the flight experience and understand how fortunate I am to get the chance to interview.

we’ll have a good idea end of July with this vacancy. Suspect it will be in the 4-5 year range.
