I would argue our timeline would be significantly pushed back if the LOA didn’t pass. 1/3 of our pilots would have been furloughed. That means at least a year to get our pilots trained up again. With the LOA passed no one got furloughed and we can start hiring right away.

We had a lot of people 4500+ talking about preparing for a third furlough either for attention or genuine fear because "they had seen this before." It doesn't go both ways. We didn't kick the bottom of the list to the curb and we outed the idiotic pockets on each side of the argument.

1750 is a more rational number than the garbage that was thrown around. I’m glad you have an opinion. I think we’re stronger when we have genuine differences that allow for well thought, crafted options. United isn’t the only source of income in this world. You’re stating the obvious about getting furloughed. I don’t require an excuse to justify my beliefs.

And with the CARES money all those guys would have kept getting a paycheck anyway.

that’s fair, but no one knew for sure the govt money would keep coming. Hindsight is 20/20. Also we don’t know how many they would have furloughed. There were so many unknowns. I am right at the border of being in the bottom 3rd and was expecting to be furloughed. Thankfully I was ready for it if need be but I know a lot of guys wouldn’t have been so I’m glad we voted to keep guys on property even if they would have been anyway.

Not saying anyone could have known what was coming, only contending the idea that the LOA is what got us to where we are now. Govt cheese kept pilots paid & the airline solvent, & it’s definitely what put us in a position to start hiring for a post-pandemic market while we’re still at 50% pilot block hours. That would NOT be happening with an active LOA but no CARES $$$.
