Logbooks for Interview

I am currently at another airline, interested in making a move to United. I fully admit that I haven’t always done a very stellar job logging all of my flights as I never anticipated leaving. Absolutely my fault and it shouldn’t have happened. Personal circumstances have changed and I am interested in making a move. I have a year or so where I didn’t log anything, and then got back in the habit of keeping a good logbook. Will this be an issue for me in an interview?

Yes. You need an accurate logbook, so if you are missing a year you might want to get it all in. Electronic logbooks are great for this.

Thankfully I was able to locate my old printouts from that year timeframe and will be able to add the flights to my electronic log. Really kicking myself for getting lax about it for a while. Will never do that again

Does United care about having recurrent training and checkrides logged, or just initials?

All of them logged and tabbed.

I didn’t have any sim time logged or CQ. But I provided a training summary from my company. They didn’t ask one question on my log book at all.

Nobody is going to look at your recurrent training and checkrides. Those will only matter if you fail an event, so definitely disclose if that's the case. Don't try to hide anything.

As far as your other checkrides: PPL, INST, COMM, MULTI etc... Those are helpful if you tab them.

The interview instructions say to clearly identify ALL checkrides, fyi. Even 141 phase checks. AQP, 121, etc. ALL

I've never logged any sim training my entire airline career, nor have I ever logged checkrides or training events and nobody said a word about it to me during my interview. That was three years ago so maybe things are different now (I doubt it) but I wouldn't worry about it.

Well, if you've logged those then more power to ya. I have never seen anyone with logbooks that include 121 CQ events. Type rides? Maybe. People will typically notate that with logbook tabs at the beginning of IOE for new types or change of seat.
