Default Current Backlog 787 Training?

Can anyone with first-hand knowledge discuss if there is any kind of backlog on the CA or FO side for 787 training? There have been a lot of awards over the past few vacancies, and I am just trying to figure out if a July activation date is realistic for the current vacancy.

When can one realistically expect to go to training if they are awarded the position now, since they indicate the possibility of going as early as June, possibly May with pop-up vacancies.

Thanks.

Part of the equation is what base , equipment and seat you are in. I’d say you’re EWR 737 FO I imagine they’d keep you there as possible

There’s definitely an issue retaining 787 sim instructors at TK. I’m not sure that would qualify as a “backlog” but if I had to guess I’d say July is pushing your luck for 22-08. I certainly wouldn’t count on any pop-ups. The shortage of check airmen is even worse. Three weeks to a couple months for IOE which only matters because you don’t get your new pay rate until you turn a wheel. Be aggressive with IOE scheduling. They like it when you do their job for them.

That’s funny stuff!

This is starting to have all the makings of the Sumner of Love 2000. That summer, the company’s poor execution of training and scheduling let to operational meltdowns and the weight of the operation collapsed on itself.

Predictably, management blamed labor and even claimed illegal job actions were the cause of operational failures. The reality was then, as it is today, training and manpower shortages to meet peak travel demand.

I want to keep passengers coming back and to be part of making United “the biggest and best airline in the history of the planet” (or whatever the saying is) but it’s hard to continually run at redline while I’m falling further and further behind to inflation.
