Letter in Support of the Tentative Agreement

Look, it was a hundred year pandemic and no one knew how to handle it - least of all the fools that did handle it. We get that. There were lots of fears and a lot of uncertainty. And there is still uncertainty with oil prices and with the threat of a recession. But barring WWIII, there will be a return to normalcy long before whatever contract replaces the current one expires. One needs to look at the long picture.
And the long picture is that there has never been a time in recent history when pilot groups have been better positioned to make real gains in QOL AND pay. If people settle for this, they are condemning themselves to a decade of less than the contract they could have had. Consider that when you vote.

-How many airline contracts have ever been done by the Amendable Date or early?
-What's the average time past the Amendable Date it's taken to get a new contract?
This is NOT a 2 year contract. Vote Yes, and you're going to be living under it for many more years, and some things (Reserve changes) you're never going to get back.

Has anybody received a definitive answer as to why the vote closes just before the Q2 results?
Seems like it would have been win/win to have the voting close after the results announced. If the company hits it out of the park with Q2 numbers...then prolly more money on the table so reattack. If the numbers are poor.... you still have a TA(wouldn't/couldn't be pulled by mgt) and peeps could use that added data point to refine their vote.
Anybody?

Sorry to be posting on your forum, but I can’t help it. I like many around the industry are watching the UAL TA closely.
“A Word on No Votes”. Scare tactics should never be a reason to support a yes vote. I’ll go back to polishing brass and keeping a close watch on guard.

Personally, I think there has to be some other logical explanation (but what do I know). The vote deadline /Q2 results timeline is a conundrum for me.

If they do, the PUP provision helps them enormously in retaining junior instructors who would otherwise be on the street.
Voting YES in case of a recession could backfire if said recession actually happens. This TA makes furlough much cheaper and easier for the company.

Wasn't this AIP announced just days before AA's wholly owneds announced their massive TA pay scales and 200% LCA pay? That was a coincidence. But this timing of the vote seems intentional. Guess United ALPA likes to be just a wee bit early on things...
