Well someone with 30 years at Delta can generally hold any CA seat and depending on the equipment might well hold the exact sam trips for 30% more pay. There are a few like that at Delta. The majority failed upgrade and returned to the FO seat. If I were a FO I would feel that a 30 year pilot might not fully represent my issues and wants. I would probably want someone more representative of the demographic. On the other hand she might be a fantastic rep and gets elected with a 90%. It just comes off a bit odd.

I’ll take one Anne over one hundred pieces of weight increasing uselessness like you seven days a week and twice on Sunday.
How are things looking for you guys in the North Atlantic in terms of market share and yield these days?
Yep.

You know, it’s toxic, sick, unhappy people like like you that are one of the reasons we’re eating Delta’s lunch in the marketplace.

The North Atlantic might be bad but Asia is another story. NWA ran what basically amounted to a whole airline from Narita flying everywhere in Asia. Even after Covid clears all that will be left are a couple flights to Japan and Korea. Literally thousands of pilot jobs disappeared.

Just a point of order. In the thousands of posts that I have read by Sailing...never has he been toxic, sick or unhappy. Some may not like his message...but never are his positions so far out there that they don't consider due merit.
I think most pilots would at least wonder why any pilot would be a 30+ year FO and be an ALPA volunteer at the same time. I'm certainly not besmirching her reputation, nor ability. As a 30+ year Intl capt, there was a FO that was senior to me....I wondered ??? I was in the top 15% so there had to be some logical explanation for such an outlier.
So, you sounded pretty hostile for a fairly logical question.
If you would permit me my logical question that I don't understand. Why did the MEC set the TA voting deadline 3 days prior to the Q2 results. Try as I might, I can't really think of a logical explanation (unless of course the MEC expects Q2 to woefully underperform)

Several things combined to put a cork in it. As you point out above, the ability to do point to point started to peel off some of the connecting traffic, but that was only a part of the problem. Asian discount carriers got started, and that nibbled away at the O/D market. Cargo cabotage through Alaska didn't help the cargo side of things. The swap to HND pulled out the business travelers going to Tokyo. Last but not least, the Japanese were tired of the whole deal, as I imagine we would be if JAL was flying from SFO to SEA, and that brought them into conflict with the then CEO. Bad combination of factors, but the point is that overflight thing is often stated, but probably played the least role.
