Default More UA MEC/NC BS: Inflation

1. Why are our pay rate increases this year not higher than the inflation rate?
The current inflation is a snapshot in time, while our contractual wage rates extend forward indefinitely. Once we negotiate a wage increase, that is in the book moving forward. If CPI goes negative, we don’t negotiate wage decreases. If inflation is high, we want a wage increase. If inflation is low, we want an increase. Over time, our wage increases have historically outpaced inflation. It is harder to do that in the current news cycle.

MEC: “If CPI goes negative, we don’t negotiate wage decreases.”

Is CPI going negative really an issue?

It's about buying power. A 747 captain in 1977 could probably afford 4 houses. 2 divorces, child support for 3, three Cadillacs and a family in the Phillipines. Today, that same captain can afford a 2500 sq ft. colonial paying Illinois taxes and a Toyota.

Our families old home in Marco Is was between two NW pilots houses and across the street was Pan Am and TWA now I'm talking b4 Marco was a thing but it was still expensive to build relative to averaged wages...I always remember my dad saying the pilots were the richest on the island...hell pilots can't afford a lanai in Southern Florida now 300k is nothing compared to the sacrifice were asked of...oh well soap box over im glad people make good money and can afford nice things...good for them!

Correction...houses were very sparse back then so between and across the street is relative...

Our economy is built for and must have inflation.

The UAL ALPA leadership are management water boys. Beyond clueless

The are the opposite of a union.

Back to the line for all of the yes voters.

It will be disgusting to watch how many of them flow into management jobs. This is be prevented for 10 years, but they would have to vote for that change.

At Northwest we had an MEC chairman move immediately to VP of flight ops. Guess who scabbed us during the strike?

Get the vote out and save our profession. You can get at minimum $1 Billion more in short order.

Some may cry and whine but our Delta MEC and NC will attain a contract we can all be proud to work under.

How well will this statement age after the earnings call?
