Quote: The Company uses terrible reserve rules in order to encourage reserve pilots to APU and fly for free. That last TA made reserve rules worse to save the company PPU for a line holder in exchange for 1hr of add pay for reserve. Hardly more lucrative… Actually a net loss for line holders and a pay concession in favor of the company. Anything similar needs to be voted down, again. Reserve rule improvements will make it more lucrative for the line holders with PPU opportunities.
His question was pertaining to guarantee on reserve. Like I said, though, it's anyone's guess how reserve will be addressed in the new TA.

How senior is LAS going on the 73 for FOs?

I'm interested in this too.

Also, what's the estimated months to a line for an FO in either the 73 or Bus in SFO?

Vegas fo went extremely junior this first go around. I’m < 1 year on property and I would have been in the top 30%.

that said, a TON of the junior bidders were pretty obviously bidding it to get out of their wide body New hire commitment (777 SFO, for example). I have no idea what future bids will be like. I think a lot of people are waiting to see the actual trips that come out of Orlando and Vegas.

Also the captain side had unfilled vacancies.

I think it’s safe to assume that a good portion of the WBFO refugees to LAS737FO will be lateraling out on the next bid. I think if anyone wants LAS if they don’t get it right out of training it will be available on a subsequent bid (assuming said NH can grab a 737 slot in the first place).

Can’t lateral out til May. Fine point but it eats up a good portion of the 6 month “new base” window

Forgive my lack of recollection as to which thread it was on but I believe someone had said that it's possible to have a QOL that's as good if not better than the LCC's if you learn to work the system at UAL. By "QOL" I'm strictly referring to schedule flexibility and ability to rearrange or get rid of trips. For example, say I'm a line holder on 737 IAH base and have a family event on a given weekend. I was awarded a 3-day starting Friday and would really like to get that specific Saturday off. I've read about things like criteria trades and "bad day/worse day" but I don't quite understand how it works. Obviously everything improves with seniority, I'm just trying to get an idea of what life on the line looks like in the earlier stages. Thanks all!

LAS Captain AND FO both had unfileld vacancies. Which means anyone can bid either one. Expect LAS to end up being twice as bid as it is now in a few years as we have to put the 450 new 737s we have on order somewhere and they aren’t going to fit into the current hubs.

I’d also expect to see PHX, SEA, MIA/FLL, BOS bases in the next 2 years as well. BOS is even likely to be an Airbus base as Kirby wants to take over a bunch of BOS-EUR flying with the 321 XLRs.

Read LOA 12-03. It tells you EXACTLY how it works. it's not magic, it's not some weird algorithm that no one knows about, it's not rules made up by scheduling despite what many will tell you. It is black and white, and coded into CC/CCS
