Default How long would reserve be on widebody

How long would reserve be for a new hire who was lucky enough to get a widebody out of EWR and then how long would they sit reserve as a capt on a 73 again out of EWR. With the upgrade times so fast I would think you would be on reserve as a basically "new hire captain" for a very long time,

G line for the wide bodies in EWR is around seniority 10900 for the more junior of the two, narrow body Captain is sub 9000 numbers. Current seniority numbers for new hires are above 15000

2 years. Then you can bid whatever you want.

Widebody reserve in EWR would probably be in the 4-5 year range (it's impossible to tell because what we see is looking into the past)

Reserve for NB CA is longer than that.

You don't have to be "lucky enough" to get EWR WB. The bottom 5+ people in the class get shafted with it. Literally anyone in the class can get WB EWR so long as they're on the class drop, which they behave been for 3+ months now.

shafted huh? The bottom of every class has always gotten what’s left over.

Not feeling the “woe is me” just because someone is forced to WB FO. I mean it’s not like they got ANC Dc-10 FE.

Shafted as in, gotten something they did not want and was leftover.

If ANC DC10 FE was on the drop, they'd get shafted with that.

Are they not shafted because it's not "as bad as I had it! Darn kids!"

No. They are shafted with what's leftover nonetheless. Just because it's not an FE position at $30/hr doesn't mean it's not shafting.

The only reason WB FO has become junior, is because NB FO has become so much more attractive lately. In “normal” times new hires would be commuting to reserve in EWR and SFO anyway, regardless of equipment. IAH and DEN were a pipe dream, regardless of equipment. And the thought of upgrading was something you hoped you could get to before you got you 20 year pin…
No one is getting “shafted” with WB FO. It’s a bunch of 24-25 year olds who are absolutely winning the airline career “timing is everything” lottery. At least until the industry flips again and the music stops.

To be fair, I don’t really hear any new hires complaining about getting shafted. It’s more of us telling them they are getting “shafted” since they will be stuck commuting to RSV until their seat lock is over. That’s what I tell anyone I know when they ask what the should bid at indoc. I commuted to a line for 2 years instead of sitting RSV in base. I had that choice, but still think I would “hate” having to commute to WB RSV until my seat lock was up.

And then the top and middle third will have to take pay cuts to keep them employed.

How many days off usually a new hire reserve on WB out of EWR can get in the month?
