Basically me, I have 1300 single engine turbine but at time of app about 600 121 turbine. Got a CJO in December

Also have a fun livery type rating which seems to be a key factor right now as well.

I think he meant to say 320 as well since three of UAL's biggest competitors fly it.

Yeah I meant any ULCC.

Coming from part 135 as an FO, hoping for UAL or DAL. Have 2300TT, 500 turbine, none of it is PIC. Wondering ideally how competitive I would be.

I got an interview with 1,800TT, 800 turbine, 500 turbine PIC (part 135), associates degree, while working at a ULCC.

As competitive as a regional FO but with no 121

No rhyme or reason. Degree, A320, 747, 757, 767, 777type rated with several others. 9k TT and no call....app updated since 2016.

You are starting to reach the region of too much experience. In their eyes, you will be hard to train to their way, and will often resist change. As always, this is just my opinion based on things I've heard and seen. I am not in, nor ever was in, any hiring department.

Sorry to hear that—those numbers were probably about the average with a commensurate amount of TPIC time and other accomplishments just a few years ago.

United seems to value leadership experiences higher than total flight time. Yeah ok an ACMI guy has 10k hours half in the bunk and what maybe 2 landings a month? Regional guys has 4000 hours 4-6 legs in the crap everyday.
looking for union leadership positions, LCA, chief pilot, training, etc seems to carry more weight than just plain old turbine PiC

What job fairs have you gone to and met United at?

So that’s why they’re hiring folks with less than 2,000 hours of total time, zero volunteering, zero TPIC, or any leadership roles? So what do all these folks have in common? Answer: they’re employed at an ULCC/competitor.

It’s not rocket science, I was an ORD CA flying United express at SkyWest. I updated my United app when I was hired at DL and they sent the assessment a few days later.

Also don’t ever downplay TPIC.
