For those who weren't around back then:
-The original CoEx guys (early 90s) were given seniority numbers at lCal, long before Bethune/Brenneman/Bonderman rescued lCal, when the scrap metal in the planes was worth more than Continental was, and a lCal senority number was used for scrap paper .*
-The CoEx pilots under the Contract '98 flow through were given DOHs 1 day ahead of the off the street hires in their class. i.e., the 3 CoEx pilots in the Sept 11, 2001 lCal class have DOHs of 9-10-2001. Their pay rates were frozen at the CoEx rate until the lCal rates caught up, and they kept their DOH for pass travel and other non-seniority list items.
-The Schindler's List and PIG pilots lost all of the flow-through benefits.
No matter which flow-though they were on, they all had a hell of a lot more flight time and experience than any intern with only GA piston time. They had scared the shut out of themselves with runaway props in Brasillias, and ice in ATRs with ice. Blotivator's icing experiences were limited to giving blotivating British sneers at drinks with ice.

Seriously? Someone who hasn’t flown a UAL plane in years is going to understand what line pilots need in a contract? No thanks. IMHO we need someone who’s been actually living the life. We just had 94.5 guys running the show and here we are.

It’s not like NS ever accomplished anything when he was the LEC Chairman other than alienating the pilot group. I would take BF over NS anytime. Just because you are actively flying doesn’t make you a genius. For that matter WB Captain doesn’t have the same perspective as a NB pilot on reserve.

I care more about getting someone who is an open thinker, active learner, & works well in teams. UAL is a complex operation & most people understand it through a limited lens. Better to have someone who can take input from multiple groups & balance it all in his/her head than to necessarily choose the person with the perfectly balanced cross-section of individual experience, in my opinion.
