What? It’s like 1400 miles shorter than SIN which is done comfortably twice a day.

More to the point EWR-HKG is back on the schedule in April. That hasn't always been a good indicator of late, but "fingers crossed".

Speaking of what's listed this Spring for EWR 777 I was bored yesterday and tried to look up all the trips and here's what I found. Again the caveat being that recently United.com has not been a good indicator of what actually happened when the time came.

Anyways I'm seeing

PEK
PVG
HKG
NRT
HND
GRU
DXB
LHR
BRU
FRA
FCO
MXP

That's a lot of flying POTENTIALLY being added back. Just for comparison here's what we were doing Spring of 2017.

PEK
PVG
HKG
NRT
TLV - 2
DEL
BOM
GRU
DUB
BRU
FRA

From another thread...This should scare any commuter that will be sitting reserve, especially in the Basic category. When I consider it, to a west coast base, I'll just reread this bullet and consider myself lucky. I understand the desire to want to fly internationally, especially when one has spent many, many years flying domestic, its just our reserve rules ruin it...
Once again the EWR 777 FO G-Line is ludicrously low (or high depending on how you interpret). That's around 85-88%. How are they manning reserves?
Summer is coming...

I wouldn't plan on bidding that. It's around an hour longer without Russian airspace and they quit flying EWR-BOM which is a good 1/2 hour shorter. Of course, if they do start flying it, it would take a freak circumstance for anyone with double digit seniority to get it... a 34 hour four day might go kinda senior.

Lol 267 years. Hmmm…I’m trying to make a decision before I show up to Newhire class. Ive met a couple of the junior 777 guys with lines…even if it’s a few random months per year-I like that! Do you have any insight on a 78 vs 77 schedule in ewr? Thanks!

Yeah. I see looking back at old sched's HKG was blocked for 31:40 and BOM 30:40. As I said what shows up for sale hasn't been a good indicator of what we end up flying, BUT there's hope

Honestly though I mention all those destinations not because I have any desire to go there, but rather just hoping we get back closer to the 24,000 hours or so we used to fly out of EWR on the 777. It sure would be nice to actually fly and not just sit at home on reserve. When I do get to fly I'm personally interested in domestic and Hawaii which is why I went 777 instead of 787. Did all that long haul stuff as an FO and have zero desire to do it again. I even have less than zero desire to see PEK,PVG, or even HKG now that Xi is in charge. Obviously if I must I must since it's a lot of what we do on the triple, but given my druthers I'll take 14 days of EWR-SFO or EWR-LAX for the rest of my career quite happily.

Anyways, just hoping for more flying and less reserve on the triple in EWR.

Where does the 78 fly out of LAX?

I don’t see any China out of the east coast coming back without Russia. We simply don’t have an aircraft that can fly it profitably.

ORD will be a stretch to PVG and PEK but it will be doable. HKG will only be reachable out SFO.

we will most likely route all China passengers thru SFO and LAX. With increased frequencies as needed.
