Default Timeline for a call after applying?

Hi all, just curious- what is the typical timeline after submitting an application to hear back for an interview (or not)?

thanks in advance!

6 hours- 6 years+? Could be never. Really is gonna depend on your background. If you’re not contacted soon after, meet the pilot recruitment team at a job fair.

^This applies for all majors.

You never know I had my stuff in for 10 years. Gave up during Covid then reapplied and heard within a couple months. Things haven’t always been this good. Be patient.

13 years- nada. 4 Boeing types, 3 other MFR types, BA, 5 internal UAL LOR's, 10k TT. Before anybody says "you have too much time and are probably untrainable"- lets recall that there was a time in the not-to-distant past that it took credentials similar of mine to just be competitive and get a call.

I had ~ 17.5K hours, 2 x widebody Boeing types & 3 x widebody/1 x narrowbody Airbus types when I got in. 8 months between applying & getting the Hogan invite.

In my newhire class, there were folks with just over ATP mins. It's a tough nut to crack, and I have no idea what triggers an application review, except attending a 'Meet the Chiefs' event or job fair seems to have an outsize influence on getting the call. Best of luck - it's worth it.

If you're well qualified and attend one of the big conferences, shorter. Everyone can click a button however far fewer make the extra effort to do the meet and greet in person dance.

If you're at a competitor, that makes a huge difference. If you're in a United "flow" program, good luck.

For me, my college GPA was low. I’m no slouch when it comes to being a pilot with a few awards under my name in the military. I just had a hard transition to college when I started.

I started my masters with 1 class and had a 4.0 and the calls started coming. Do what you can to make yourself look better and that you’re constantly improving.

There's no magical answer. If you used one of the app review services, it might help because they will make sure you hit all the keywords. It took me a while to get mine pulled, but eventually the email for the Hogan came.
