What would 320's in IAH look like for holding a line/ would the 73 be better at getting quicker better sked? Asking for a friend..ok for me!
They are relatively the same as are all NBs in all bases with the edge to the 737 at the moment in IAH. The advantage the 737 will always have is the sheer volume of pairings they have relative to the 320. More open time, more schedule flexibility as a result. |

if you want a line quickly in IAH, 737 is the way to go. |
Keep in mind that the big reason that IAH has grown so much is that they are taking captains where they can get them, not where they are needed. If a new contract largely removes the unfilled captain vacancies on the coast, IAH could either see a NB displacement, or the more likely scenario become extremely stagnant while they fill vacancies where they’re really needed. Once vacancies being filled where needed, expect IAH to move back towards being a senior base and those with current junior awards will be hit the hardest while more senior people bid on top of them for years.

there is a standing disclaimer on all of these questions that get asked. What happened in the past is not necessarily a predictor of the future. when I got hired, Newark 737 was THE place to go for seniority progression (so I was told). Fast forward a few months, and EWR came to a screeching halt for exactly the reason you said (plus, there was nowhere left to grow it). I went up 30% by bidding over to IAH. What does the future hold? Who the heck knows. Maybe it’ll actually hold a contract! |

the June G-line for IAH 320 vs 737 is 1200 numbers different. The 737 is a FAR better choice for seniority progression in IAH. There has been a pittance of IAH 320 offered in indoc over the past year. Meanwhile, 737 has well over 100 vacancies unfilled.

That’s a lot of absolute talk. You have to look at it through the lens of more than the last few months. There will be times when you are more senior on the 737, other times the Airbus. Right now it’s the 737. The seniority progression averages out over time.

scroll up one and read my other post.
I had, my reply was for the person who asked the question and probably doesn’t even know what the g-line is, nor that 1200 doesn’t mean anything because the two fleets are not the same size. |

The latest snapshot has all those DEN 737 FO unfilleds filled back in. So it was just a glitch on the last snapshot.
By the way the vacancy bid page is open again... |
