That's interesting. i've checked google maps at various times of day and its never been more than 2:10. But I have heard that I-4 traffic can get bad.

We get cross town pay in bases that cover multiple airports if your trip starts at one of the satellite airports of the base.

How much does that come out to be? An additional hour? A percentage of the assigned trip?

Paid out tax free as well. Do 10 TPA day trips a month and that’s an extra ~$2,800.

I’ve done the commute most days it’s 2-2:30 hours if you hit the rush hour but with good traffic 1:45. If there’s a bad accident 3:30. If you have to commute on I4 get a self driving Tesla it will save you mentally.

Once Brightline finally does the Orlando to Tampa leg, I-4 will be but a joke to look out the window at and likely be something like 45 to 60 minute commute and it will dump you out at Terminal C at MCO.

When is that supposed to start?

Commuting long distances within and between Florida cities really sucks right now. Loads upon loads of people selfishly moved here during the pandemic, and along with the numerous seasonal retirees this time of the year is awful. What's worse is a lot of the retiree and remote work crowd seems to be on the roads at peak hours, so have fun with that. I've lived in this state on and off for over a decade and getting around is more painful than ever.

Article sums up the current situation pretty well. Tampa politicians want it running by 2030 with the station in Ybor City. 6 years isn’t too bad given the scope of the work and the permitting involved.

You mean all the people who travel and now justify an MCO and TPA base?
