Agreed. The complete and utter lack of self-awareness is stunning. These are supposed to be very "smart" people surrounded by other very "smart" people.

Wasn’t he going to DEN or something to help work the problem? What should he have done, sit stuck in EWR or where ever with his passengers in solidarity? How would that be helpful? It’s not like he was going on vacation. Optics are not flattering but this is much to do about nothing.

Real leaders don’t abandoned their subordinates. He made it worse by bailing where there was a problem. It’s a clear message of how he values his workers. He literally left where it was horrible. He should have had enough SA to not fly private. Very dumb and classless.
