If only we were actually IN mediation, “that kind of moment” might actually be worth something.
My take is this meltdown provides zero leverage. “Save face” lol, that’s not how corporate America works - you’ll get a “uh, sorry” on Flying Together and nothing more. Second quarter is going to be very very expensive. Look at what the Christmas meltdown cost SWA, I would be surprised if it costs UAL less.
Each individual has the autonomy to make a very personal decision about they interact with UAL within the confines of the UPA.

I just don’t understand how these people (insert your airline management) can make such poor PR decisions in the midst of major issues at the companies they “run.” At SWA, we had our new CEO flying out of DC on AA in first class right before he was due to testify in front of congress after attending a company “spirit rally” the night before. I mean, I don’t think I could imagine anything worse optics wise. Your CEO decides to take the private chopper evac out of Saigon? Good lord. What are these people thinking?
