I understand the inefficiencies of this idea but imagine a natural disaster in Denver that takes the TK offline for a few months—while Dallas and Atlanta remain unaffected. We’d slowly grind to a halt with all eggs in one basket, so to speak. I believe the Seattle earthquake 20 years or so ago took almost all if not all of the Boeing in house sims offline for quite a while.

i suppose we could send people to any available sims worldwide at that point.

What natural disaster? Denver rarely gets tornados and when they do they’re not typically more than an EF1 or 2. Not likely to get a significant earthquake. Biggest risk in the area is wildfires and you’re not getting one in the middle of the city.

I believe UAL or any airline for that matter has contingencies for these type of things. The office is called Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery.

i know, it’s a bit of a longshot worry, but anytime all important resources are concentrated in one place, it’s worth consideration. [Insert quote about ships being too big to sink / companies too big to fail]

We've also done sims in other facilities in the past. This is one that has been used by United: https://www.panamacademy.com/
