I told a story where I made a decision as a captain. According to my company policy (and common sense) I made the right decision. The pilot interviewing me did NOT like what I decided. He questioned me about it and I stood by what I did. I knew from his facial expression he had made his decision on me. When we got into the technical, he asked some pretty ridiculous questions. He was also blatantly and 100% wrong on a question he asked me about getting vectored off a SID (I verified by reading the FAA 7110 and asking controller friends). When asked to debrief he even doubled down on the fact that I was wrong. I don’t blame him for not getting hired, because I should not have told the story I did.
It doesn't have to be the "I was interted on fire with one engine and thought I was going to have to out do Sully" type of situation, for ANYTHING.
The typical question of coworker relations/confrontation/disagreement doesn't have to be some high stress/about to come to blows scenario, etc.
The situation just has to be pacckaged so it's conforms to the STAR method with the "R" being positive/lasting.

Anyone know how the app pulling/review process works at United? If you have an app on file is it guaranteed they'll look at it eventually, or if other apps have higher scores (does United score?) is it possible your app never gets looked at?
Will you get a TBNT if they review your app but they don't want you to interview/take the Hogan?

The second time I interviewed I told the most conservative and boring stories possible. And it worked.
great story brah,
the truth is you have no idea why you weren’t offered the job the first time. United doesn’t offer feedback or critique, ever.

I interviewed 1 year, 4 months ago and got the TBNT. I have a perfectly clean record and am currently at a ULCC. I've gotten every job I've ever interviewed for. I prepped hard for the interview and did interview prep. My last session of prep, the person doing the prep (who happened to just have retired from United as a person who worked in pilot hiring) said that he would have given me a job right then and there and that I would more than likely get the job. Got to Denver and the interview did not go well at all. Was the most awkard, uncomfortable interview I've ever had. The pilot who did my interview was not friendly in the least and I felt like he had something against me from the get-go. It was super weird. Got the TBNT and the email said I could reapply in 1 year. Anyway, since it's been over a year, I tried to reapply recently using the application I previously filled out and this is the message I got when I logged in:Thank you for your interest in United. After careful consideration of your application, we regret we are unable to further consider you for our selection process at this time. Although we are not in a position to provide you specific feedback on your application, we appreciate you keeping United Airlines in mind and wish you the best in your career, wherever it takes you.
So I just started a new application using all my same info and it seems to have worked. Has anybody gotten this mesage? Made me think at first I could not reapply.
Also, my friend just set up a Meet the Chief, but I see someone just mentioned that I can't do a MTC with a previously failed interview?

I am roughly 8 months past a TBNT letter and a new application seems to be working after putting in my social, license number and same full name. I just don't want United to think I'm trying to trick the system, and yet I don't want to be the person who waited 16 months for it to open back up and it never does. And we all know it's impossible to talk to a recruiter in HR via phone or email.

I just want piggy back onto this and say; this was rather a grumpy, unwarranted post.
the dude was sharing his/her story, I didn’t feel any entitlement at all. I read it as them trying to say “here is my background; I’ve gotten jobs before, so It’s like I walked into the United interview unprepared.”
