His technique is all wrong. Stance is off, hand position, no follow through... world is going to think we are a bunch of weenies that can't swing an axe.

But the axe makes a real statement.

Axe for show, sawzall/chainsaw for a pro.

JFC that’s a legendary way to go out. The axe was an interesting choice. Anyone who’s dealt with DIA employee parking feels his pain.

Yeah, it even trumps the FA that grabbed the beers and blew the slides years go.

He should have arm barred the parking arm, WWF style.

"There is literally zero excuse, empathy or siding with someone who goes and crosses the imaginary looney wall by grabbing an axe and destroying airport property in uniform"

I have the inside scoop even thought it could get me banned. Clearly this guy had to fly with that new "affirmative action" hire who " against all odds" made it through 75/76 training and he just couldnt take it anymore!

No one should be siding with this guy, not even partially.

All the public will see is that an experienced 777 CA at United almost crashed a WB into the ocean, followed by Mr. Anger Management here vandalizing airport property with an axe. This is how the media will portray a United pilot, unfortunately, this week.

Age 63, I get it, he's on his way out and maybe he takes his paycheck for granted. Still - would never put my kids on his flight. Time to retire early.

I’d rather fly with him than you, FWIW.

I hope that guy never has to buy another drink for himself.

What is it with this instant herofication of nut jobs?

Personally? We don’t know, but I choose to assume “the nut job” is easy to work with and does his job effectively. We know the guy I quoted above is an uptight virtue signaler.

Hard pass.

Give me Looney Tunes and a pitcher of beer. You can keep your virtue.

On a serious note, anyone else notice all the major media outlets calling this a “bizarre axe attack” in the headlines. As if a United pilot went full Texas chainsaw massacre on someone.

It was a parking gate. Where’s the accountability for misleading press like this… rhetorical question… grumble grumble

On a less serious note, wouldn’t it have been fun to be in the truck first in line at the parking gate and have a front row seat
