YUP ...our fears have materialzed. United is slowing down hiring. This weeks class only has 49 pilots instead of 50. Yup Probably gonna start furloughing soon.

And that one no show was a Fedex pilot who went to PSA instead...

As hiring slows down (Delta, Spirit, JB, FedEx, UPS, etc…), you’ll start to see less turnover at the regional captain level, which means fewer parked RJ’s, which means more ASM’s on RJ’s. United will definitely need to hire regardless as long as those deliveries keep coming, but I do think getting those parked RJ’s back in the air will cause a little slowdown in hiring.

I would hope our leadership has more of a plan than “let’s hope everyone else stops hiring so we can staff our regional feed.”

Jerry, I was referring to forward looking data. I guess I needed to be more clear; those planes referenced in Delta's 10Q are already staffed. The topic is future staffing, not current/past staffing.

I would hope that current management has finally figured out that the CASM declines when you replace RJs with mainline aircraft. And the passengers prefer mainline aircraft over Barbie jets. They can't be turned into beer cans fast enough for me.

From last year's DAL annual report Delta was supposed to receive 67 aircraft in 2024: 15 A223s, 36 A321neos, 9 A339s & 7 A359s. 66 aircraft in 2025: 12 A223s, 25 A321neos,3 A339s & 20 B737Max10s. There are also rumors of an imminent widebody order.

RASM drops if there's not enough demand for the larger jet.
