Rip that if that really was the case. That said, they could be new to the company, but maybe not inexperienced aviators. Maybe they have plenty of airbus time before UA? Maybe lots of time in other airframes? The point being that we should really wait for the actual story to come out before pointing fingers (not saying you are, but others are).

There's always a qualification or some "facts" we have to wait for before before having an opinion. Not sure the pilots' backgrounds change much in this case.

And who are you to identify United pilots on a public internet forum?

Don't answer that.

Taking the upgrade means a lot more than a change in pay rate.

I can't believe we're going to start the "Junior captains are a danger to the airline" narrative while simultaneously ignoring the very senior captains who are responsible for two very high profile incidents as of late, and the one 'not that new of a hire captain' who let the garbage coach for the garbage baseball team in the cockpit.

Yup. It is meaningless without more info, which most level-headed individuals understand. Junior to UA yes, but could have been left seat in the bus for the the last 10 years. The last excursion was, what, from a guy with years in the seat at UA? All meaningless narratives. Anyone can make a bonehead move in a quick lapse of judgement/focus.

It's called laziness. It's easier to just place blame on something like seniority, gender or age.

Everyone is able to make mistakes regardless of years in this industry. That's why complacency is so dangerous in this profession.

Aw feeling attacked? Someone mentioned it may have been senior pilots (which I'm sure you wished it was) and I simply posted factual information, nothing more. If facts bother you sorry.

And breaking security protocal is simply boneheadedness and has nothing to do with experience, age, or skill.

It never fails to amaze me how people automatically equate a seniority number with experience. I'm as junior as they get at UA, but the guy just below me on the list has 20 years as a widebody CA at a (ME3) airline. Yet judging by his employee number, he's "really junior" and therefore clueless, according to some people...

Most people on your seniority list that are junior are younger and have little experience. Just because the dude below you has 20 years at another shop doesn't mean sh1t. The world works in generalities man. Your anecdotal story doesn't make the rule. Why do people always go to the extreme to prove a point?
