Hiring Minimums

I'd be interested to know why you think this. I'll make the CRJ's case, especially for the 200:
- Unsynced fans, no fadec or engine monitor.
- No autothrust / throttle, no stall protection.
- Lots of flying out of radar coverage / outside of tower hours into CTAFs with high amounts of local traffic.
- More involved go arounds and V1 cuts, harder MVs as a result, even though that's subjective.

Add in the lack of operational support regional Captains get vs mainline counterparts….

When I handed the recuriter my resume, before I could even open my mouth to introduce myself, she looked right at my flight time and said that I am not looking competitive, and then told me that right now, competitive hiring minimums are 4,000 to 6,000 total time. I get that I missed the big regional FO hiring wave of last year. But I wish I would have at least been giving a chance to market myself at RTAG before being shut down .005 seconds into the job fair.

I assume that once we start getting airplanes again and hiring picks up, the mins may go down again. After they get through the backlog of highly qualified candidates. When that will be, who knows!

What I’m hearing is you’d rather have someone blow smoke up your rear side than hear the truth. Personally I’d rather be told where the gate is and aim for that than be told something else. Bottom line is keep your apps updated and you’ll get the call eventually. The recruiters are the gate keepers, if one told you the truth be happy about that and also keep working on it….

I took my enitre day to travel to Dallas specifically to speak with a United recruiter. I would have rathered recieve the full interaction as they advertised (they sent out an email with instructions on how to prepare for the event), rather than be shot down within a second of showing up.

Take the first upgrade and build that T-PIC time and keep the apps updated. Continue the job fair hustle that many did before the crazy post-Covid hiring boom.
