The artificial cap. They even addressed it in the Q&As. They admit the company has already committed to filing for a PLR. So why the rush to vote on something before we know the results?

Q: Can ALPA request a Private Letter Ruling (PLR) from the IRS on the application of the Contingent Benefit Rule?

A: ALPA cannot request a PLR because we are not the plan sponsor. If ALPA wants United to pursue a PLR, we would need agreement between United and ALPA on the request. United has committed to filing for a Private Letter Ruling (PLR) on whether the PRAP Employer Contribution amounts need to be reduced with the CBP whether the LOA passes or fails, subject to MEC approval.”

I read that section and some other research I’ve done as a PLR can be submitted only after the CBP is in place and approved by the IRS. Until then there’s nothing to actually rule on.

Then lets follow the contract and wait for it to be in place without screwing with RHA funding/sweeping and we have a choice what to do with our money. This is just a rush job with restrictions in place to get something going in 2025. We were told the CBP would be like DAL has. This LOA isn't like DAL has. Someone is trying to rush this through at our expense instead of allowing the process to run it's course.

I haven't ran into a pilot who's voting for this on the line but I know there will be some. Guessing 75-80% against so I'll try not to keep responding as both sides are just doing circles at this point. We'll all know next week. I'll accept the results however it turns out.

Something I have said many times, especially whenever the new FltOps manager needs to prove he's better than the last one: I don't care if they reinvent the wheel, I only care if it's round...

This LOA reeks of close-to-retirement people (same crowd that wants age 67, undoubtedly) trying to get MORE FOR THEMSELVES....as before, to the detriment of younger/more junior pilots. VOTE NO.

Im about the most anti 67 pilot you’ll find and I’m not senior, but I do like to save a lot of money and not pay taxes. This LOA is great for that, and I can’t see how it would hurt anyone unless you really really needed a lot of RHA money.

I found the Con rebuttal letter pretty enlightening. It answered a lot of questions I had (like if the company contributions were capped). What part of it do you disagree with?
