The MBCBP on offer is completely underbaked. It seems to be a delayed reaction to the awful decisoin to institute a VEBA with its many limitations including non-estatability.

Couldn't you already do this now with a simple brokerage account?

yea that’s my point. We all would be better off putting the extra $13k that we now need to fund our prap into a brokerage account. Hopefully you understand that we now need to put more money into the prap to max it out if the LOA passes.

I’m actually somewhat shocked this would even affect that many of us. I fill the 401k with my own money literally as soon as possible every year so I can jam money into the mega-back door Roth. I would rather the company put $0 in my PRAP and fund an RHA and CBP exclusively.

For all of us that were super junior in 2020, the senior dudes voted for us not to be furloughed. Some of that same group of pilots were 2x furloughed themselves. Many had their pensions totally wiped out. One way to help pay them back right now is to allow their money to go into a fund they can actually use for whatever they want and pass onto their heirs when they pass away. Many of these guys have RHAs that are $200-400k and do not want anymore in there, can you blame them?

I’m a senior FO, I fly with senior CAs. I don’t know any that don’t want this CBP option ASAP. Frankly I think we owe it to them.

I'm a pretty senior CA and I want the OPTION. Just like how it was sold to us. I don't like voluntarily giving up the option of the RHA. I don't like volunteering to permantantly giving up max funding by the company into the PRAP. If the IRS comes out and says we must, then we address best how to. Frankly I haven't met a CA or a single FO who thinks the gives are worth getting this thing early. I know there are some out there but I haven't talked to any personally.

We'll know in less than 24 hrs.

You can’t be serious!!! We need to least try to get what was promised in the contract first. If the IRS turns it down, then let’s change the contract. Seriously, this is not ok without trying to get what we all agreed to first. Crazy!
