I was in full uniform on the hotel van and the driver asked me if I liked being an FA.

People really do have no clue. Twice I've been stopped in an airport, in uniform, with the phrase "excuse me but do you work here?"

Only other pilots notice other pilots commuting out of uniform. The signs are obvious to us. To the general public, though? I bet maybe 1 out of 100 pax would notice the bags, the crew pants and the pullover / polo.

That said .. Can we all please just stop walking around in civvies (ie on leisure travel, in jeans and T shirts) with our crew badges displayed? What is up with that? (I don't mean UA people specifically. I mean everyone).

You sure it was the uniform?

Now that comedic relief haha Honestly, glad no one knows what a commuting pilot looks like. Let’s me get away with being in the UA lounge unbothered

^^^ this ^^^ no reason to show your crew badge if within the gate area and/or on the aircraft unless you are jump seating. I’m not sure what pilots gain from doing this… only thing you might get on the plane is a bottle of water and/or endless nonsense questions for pax sitting by you. Especially in FC seats… company has sent out numerous ccs and emails over the years for pilots to stop wearing crew badges in civies… they also prefer not DH in uniform in FC unless going to a working flight.

I don’t really care what the company asks. The badge yields less hassle for bags, boarding a group ahead of the one you’re supposed to, snacks for free….and then I take it off once I’m on the plane. Why do you or TurboZima care what anybody else does?

Regardless, I don’t wear it AT ALL in civvies. Just make you look like a retard . Hey look at me I’m a crew member! 🙄🙄🙄🙄
Why pilots and a lot of FA’s do it is beyond me.

New uniforms- FA’s hate theirs . We look like sky caps or FA’s ourselves.
Wide body guys look ok with the blazer and hat .
Big waste of money IMO .

Embarrassing. Like the FNGs who wear their IDs to the hotel bar.
Screams: “Hey look at me…I’m an airline pilot. “.

It goes well with the five crew tags on every bag.

I used to have a crew tag on my bag, but took it off. Is there any value to having it (I’m not a commuter, thankfully). I haven’t missed it in probably 10 years now. I do have the “exempt” tag on my flight bag.
