I know it’s fashionable to look down at our industry counterparts at ULCC’s but it’s not a good look at least to me.
You may not share this on your dating profile or to your friends when playing pickle ball…..but we all know when the door closes it’s the same job. Let’s also pretend like luck, timing has nothing to do with our career trajectory. |

"minimal growth" for those pilot bases for staffing. They want to grow the coastal bases (for pilot staffing). I have no idea why. 777s and 747s flew in and out of DEN for years, and they never had a 777 or 747 base there. The increase to number of flights in and out of a hub are not necessarily coincidental to the number of pilots based there.
The proof is in the standby list on almost every MCO-EWR flight… |

it’s also worth adding that just because there’s growth doesn’t mean there won’t be movement (which is mostly what we care about). WB growth causes movement everywhere. We’ve all said “I’ll never commute again” at some point, but deep down inside many of us know we are lying to ourselves.

Getting kicked in the nuts repeatedly is better than flying the guppy even as the #1 senior guy.

As a fellow guppy guy, I don’t appreciate that comment. I feel personally offended, attacked and frankly a little butt hurt. Today , I’m identifying as a soft hearted guppy driver 😂🤣😂😂😂 “ Can’t we all just get along” 😂🤣 |

By United material do you mean the anti-vax/anti-gay mafia that runs rampant in IAH? Or the ultra-liberal rep on the west coast that is being doxxed right now for his views on Charlie Kirk? We have every sort of personality under the sun at United. We’ve got Christians, Jews, Muslims, trans, gay, straight, misfits, misogynists, sexists, racists, pro-govt, anti-govt, the whole gambit. I’d argue that there are plenty of pilots at United who don’t make “good United material” but they got through the process and here they shall stay. Your crap is just as brown and smells just as much as anyone at NK or any other airline.
Dam This guy get it. Spot on. Especially with the take on IAH . Every flight , you go from one extreme to the next with the characters down there . By the time you get to cruise, get ready for a 2 hour rant on something because it’s coming. |

A good friend of mine commutes from Vegas. He said the flight office told him there are 40 pilots who have parking at LAS but commute to SFO or LAX that are SENIOR to the #1 Guppy Captain in SFO. I'm guessing they are all WB Captains or FOs. The #1 CA in LAS is about 3,000 on the seniority list. So apparently its better to commute to WBCA on the coast than live in base and fly the Guppy, even at #1 in base.
If my wife hadn't wanted to move to MCO, I'd still be living in LAS and commuting to SFO on the bus. NFW would I take the guppy in LAS.
