you can bash some bad apple FAs all you want about not being aware of their surroundings but pilots aren’t the picture of professionalism either.
the other day I witnessed a DH pilot standing at his seat in first class talking to another DH pilot. He was talking so loud all of first class had no choice but to listen to him describe the LOE in great detail, I was 4 rows away from him and could hear him like he was right next to me. He described the emergency’s and the failures in front of people he has no idea how they feel about flying.
Humans are going to do human things when they have no spatial awareness.

Which kind of suggests it’s less about being human and more about the standard of situational awareness that’s expected. Either way there is a problem to fix

You are missing the point. It’s not about who’s doing it , it’s not ideal regardless. If it had been pilots on my flight yesterday , I would’ve said pilots. Now to the last part , i get the “humans do human things” idea, although it’s interesting you don’t really see that same lack of situational awareness play out the same way in places like Singapore or ANA.

The part I don’t agree is justifying everything with -lack of awareness- i think most of the times people is aware of the surroundings, they just DGAF about other people. Individualism is very common in America.

I mostly agree. that is why I said on a post “ Don’t get me wrong I think most of the FAs are great, but for better or for worst there is something not sure if it’s the culture or what that is pushing us back.”

that fear does not exist in the United States for better and for worse.
Fear is one of the best motivators on the planet

As for discussions about FA quality - or even pilot quality, for that matter - what Archer said. I'm glad we're far removed from the days of age and weight requirements for employment. That's suboptimal, and implying a nostalgia for the "good old days" isn't awesome. Not that this thread is doing that, but I've heard it time and time again. Also heard some horror stories from ex-expats who worked for the ME3.
