Thanks SP, made some calls yesterday the official line is no recalls except to the already announced CAL recall side. But, then it was brought up there is a meeting in early Jan to access staffing needs for summer flying and that's when it will be official one way or the other. My contact pointed out they are not high enough up to know before that meeting...

30west,

No surprise on the "official" line, but the meeting in January could be interesting. Do you know if the staffing meeting is a joint UAL/CAL approach, or limited to just the old UAL operations?

Thanks,

SP

I have some contacts in the ORD HQ Chief Pilots office and IAD Flight Office, the word I am hearing is recalls to the CAL side as early as JAN-MAR time frame. Also UAL needs pilots and plans to announce recalls in APRIL 2011.

I am at the top of the recall list, so I am waiting it all out, I would prefer to join the CAL side since I live in Houston.

It would be great to see CAL IAH workout for you and several others soon.

I hope the CAL calls come before the company or MEC stop too long, and open Pandora's box of what ifs. There are some very interesting possibilities that I won't mention here, as I hope some of them are being overlooked.

Sonny,

I think it might be the company you keep. ;)

On the bright side, it sounds like you would be a good candidate for the SuperHero Relocation Program. There are openings in the program coming up soon in IAH. A new uniform, employee number, photo ID badge, and aircraft assignment could protect your identity for a short time.

The sooner the better!

Giddy up!

ALERT: IMPENDING SYSTEM BID
The MEC System Staffing Committee (SSC) has been meeting with our Company counterparts since the B-737 staffing issues of December became known. The delays in delivery of the B-787 following an inflight problem are also being discussed. Both of these issues require changes to correct staffing imbalances that have significant impact on the Continental pilots’ quality of life.

The Company has indicated that they will be issuing a 12-04 System Bid within the next few business days (week of Dec. 13 at latest). The following outlines our understanding of the bid following the latest meeting on Dec. 8:

1. All returning furloughees will return on the current schedule (no change).

2. The B-787 BES will be reduced to a level commensurate with anticipated delivery dates (no earlier than spring 2012). The Company will need to communicate changes in expected training dates.

3. There will be no net reduction in total captain positions.

4. B-737 CA/FO positions will be bolstered to handle the additional flying added since December 2010.

5. EWR B-737 CA/FO positions will be increased to provide NYC overnight imbalance relief in IAH pairings.

6. Any displacements will be handled per our current working agreement.

The MAR-TAB (training assignment bid) will not be issued until this new bid is awarded. Once the bid is published, the MEC SSC will communicate any further items or issues of importance through the MEC News weekly blastmail.

Interesting? I got this from another thread on this site. Does anyone know what this means for us furloughed UAL pilots?

Based on the preliminary info....prob no slots for furloughed UAL pilots on this bid. BUT we won't know till we see the bid to see if it has any vacancies.

Not what we would like to see but again, CAL is cheap and it won't pay to bring UAL furloughees over unless it absolutely has to.

What I find "interesting" about this bid is it's bringing BACK flying to EWR that never should have gone to IAH in the first place. The number of hotel rooms and deadheading created by this shift in flying was absurd. Nothing like spending a dollar to make a nickel, but I guess ticking off the pilots to show us who is in control was accomplished.
