CAL recalls

Has CAL started to make calls yet? I thought classes were going to be assigned after the bid closed on Sept. 16th.

Yes, people have been recalled. Once they accept or bypass - UAL furloughees will get the call.

Again, this is ALL we know per CAL's MEC Chairman (dated 9/17/2010) regarding CAL's furloughed pilots:

A MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN
I am pleased to start this week by letting you all know that recall letters have been sent to our furloughed pilots. We have been told that they should expect to enter training during the fourth quarter of this year and that the goal is to get all who return back in the cockpit by summer 2011. Our Membership and Furlough Assistance volunteers will coordinate with Flight Operations to help ensure a smooth return.

Beeker.....if I can ask, did you take the recall or pass??

Eitherway, best of luck.

Did everyone get the letters or just a part of the 147?

Is everyone getting EWR or is there other bases available. What if any perks are there for GUAM....like extra housing $$ and commutable schedules.

Everyone of the 147 is getting a letter.

The bid showed the furloughed guys going to EWR 737, EWR 757, IAH 737, and GUM 737. The most junior few got GUM.

As for GUM, I've never been based there, but they have schedules where you put your days off together so you can get home. There also is an override, but I'm not sure how much it is. GUM is all 737-800 so you get the higher pay being out there.

If you are junior in your class you will probably get GUM. Senior guys will probably get EWR 73 or 75.

I'm in the bottom 15 out of CAL's 147 furloughed pilots. My letter stated that I should expect training NLT April 2011. Depending on how many people accept recall or take a furlough/military leave, it's possible that the last of the 147 could be actively flying sooner than April. So I'd guess that the UAL guys will start seeing class dates next spring.
