Any idea when all those accepting recalls will be in training? Also, any idea when or if Continental will call United furloughed pilots?

That's just from a few of the recalls who've posted their training dates on CALforums. Probably some additional classes in Nov & Dec on through the spring.

I would ASSume that since the CAL system bid was staffed to the "minimum" pilot number and that included positions for all of the 147 currently not on property, that they will have to fill the positions of those who chose an LOA instead of returning to the line.
Last I heard it was at least 40 that are transitioning to a leave.

CAL has some time to work that out and start a process to offer the slots to UAL furloughs as the last recalls were due to be trained in the spring so that would probably be the time frame for UAL furlough training dates. The training cycle would be a bit longer for the UAL furloughs though, as it would have to include basic indoc., and I'm pretty sure the recalls don't need to do indoc.

How many bypassed the Recall?
 

Does anyone know how many CAL pilots bypassed the CAL recall? I heard they only had enough to fill up the classes through February and they were going to start taking UAL furloughees after that..

The word from the CAL MEC is that no UAL pilots will be recalled as a result of the last system bid.

However, there is a new rumor that we will start recalling UAL furloughs in the summer.
There is a system bid usually posted in the spring so if that rumor were to come true it would be reflected on the spring system bid.

Interesting, thanks for info. Correct me if I am wrong, normal new hires at CAL don't get paid for training and the pilot has to pay his/her hotel during training too. Does anyone know, if the UAL returning furlougees will get paid day one on the property. No direction from ALPA on this one..

Source at the MEC? Thought that would be a company manning decision. I had heard that there was a reasonable possibility of seeing letters from CAL in the Feb-Mar time frame for UAL pilots. Obviously big difference in the two and likely no one but the board knows the answer.

No and no.

You get paid, but it takes time to "catch up" with pay.
You get an "advance" on the first, and then on the 15th you get cleanup pay from the last month.
ie: You start on the 15th, you don't get paid on the 15th since you haven't worked yet.
You get an advance on the following 1st. Then on the following 15th you get a cleanup from the first month.

So you do get paid, but it takes time to "catch up".

As for training, you get continuous per diem (but it will take a pay cycle or two to get to you) and a hotel room to yourself.

Cal pays from day one in training.

Hotel is provided while in training.

Per diem is payed for every day in training at $44.40 per day.

Positive space travel is provided to and from your home of record for any break in training of 48hrs or more.

Correction:
PS1 to training - must ride

PS5 from training home - space available till the last flight of the night, then you can declare yourself a must ride with the gate agent working the flight.

If it's summer, and every flight is oversold (not uncommon) you usually get home "faster" by jumpseating as opposed to waiting for the last flight of the night.
