And as far as Todd's "slots" for UAL guys in March 2011 off the CAL bid...I believe he's just doing straight math. I.e. bid for 120 seats (or whatever), 85 accepted recall, leaves 35 remaining to be filled...but that is an assumption that they will fill all those remaining seats from the bid with UAL guys. Mngmt could just as easily "adjust" the requirement and settle for 85 fills for now....

I'm hoping this new company will get off it's bloated arse and start to compete with DAL who seems to be going all out for market share...with SWA joining in.

Does anybody know if they scheduled all of the classes yet, and if so when the last class is?

What is the significance of the "2172" number that I am now seeing getting thrown around? I thought you guys had 1437 on furlough? Thanks.

2172, the number of pilots UAL furloughed the first time, after 9/11. Many eventually accepted the recall only to be furloughed again, this time, 1437.

2172 are more cautious of any new promises. We have been through this before so we know who is looking out for us...2172 Strong.

Or, more to the point, we have learned who is NOT looking out for us.

Seeing as how about ~250 of the 1437 was never part of the original 2172, myself being one of those, you may count on at least 2173 as part of that future block

Lol...but many of the 2172 are gone forever (resigned), so the number itself doesn't mean anything as a "stat." It's now a moniker for those of us who have been booted twice in 10 years. I hope for your sake (and mine) that you don't get to join that club!

Now that the CAL recall response is complete, is there any UPDATED word on CAL staffing plans in regards to the last vacancy bid triggering UAL calls?

I would give Jeff a call, but don't have his cell number handy... ;)
